Dan Henry 1963 Pilot Chronograph instructions

Your Dan Henry 1963 Pilot Chronograph is equipped with the Miyota caliber 6S20 60-minute chronograph with a smooth motion center second hand and 1/10-second subdial.

1. Setting the time:

  • Pull out the crown.
  • Turn the crown to set the hour and minute hand.
  • Push in the crown to the normal position.

2. Using the chronograph

Your Dan Henry 1963 Pilot Chronograph features a stopwatch that can measure minutes, seconds, and 1/10 seconds up to 60 minutes.
The center second-hand shows elapsed seconds while timing. The subdial in the 3 o’clock position shows 1/10-seconds, and the subdial in the 9 o’clock position shows recorded minutes. (The subdial in the 6 o’clock position shows watch seconds, and runs continuously).

  • To start the chronograph: press the upper pusher. The chronograph hands will move.
  • To stop the chronograph: press the upper pusher again. The chronograph hands will stop and indicate the elapsed time.
  • Read the elapsed seconds on the large central hand, minutes on the subdial in the 9 o'clock position and 1/10 second on the 3 o'clock subdial).
  • To reset the chronograph: press button the lower pusher to reset the chronograph. All of the chronograph hands will be reset to zero position.
  • When timing, the right subdial measuring 1/10 seconds will spin for 30 seconds, and then stop to save battery. But the timing continues in the movement, so when you press the stop pusher, the decimal hand will then show the elapsed time.

Note: The Dan Henry Its a 60-minute chronograph, so the chrono function will stop after one hour.

3. Resetting the Chronograph hands

If the central seconds hand or the decimal subdial hands do not return to zero, reset them like this:
    • Pull out the crown.
    • Press the upper pusher once to set the chronograph second hand to the zero position. The chronograph hand can be advanced rapidly by continuously pressing the pusher.
    • When the hands are set at zero position, reset the time and push in the crown to its normal position.
    • To adjust your right sub-dial hand: repeat the procedure described above, but use the lower pusher.

    4. Using the 12-hour GMT Bezel

The Dan Henry 1963 chronograph is equipped with a rotating 12-hour GMT bezel, so you can track a second-time-zone. For example, to monitor the time in a city that is 5 hours ahead of you, just turn the bezel counter-clockwise for 5 clicks or 5 hours, and read the hours of the second timezone in the bezel.

    5. Water resistance

Your chronograph has been tested for water resistance. It is safe for wear in a swimming pool, but not for scuba or ocean diving. The crown must be pushed in completely to ensure that the watch is water resistant.
Do not use the timing functions when the watch is wet or underwater.

    6. Accuracy and battery replacement

The accuracy of the movement is 20 seconds a month. With normal use, the battery in your Pilot Chronograph should last about three years.
When the watch begins to run slow, it indicates that the battery should be changed. Use a ref. SR927W or 395 battery. The life of the battery can be shortened by extreme heat or cold.
The battery life can be conserved while not using the watch by pulling out the stem to stop the watch.
