An art deco dress chronograph for a cosmopolitan lifestyle,
with four dial designs and straps in eight colors.
The Dan Henry 1937 Dress Chronograph is a tribute to the cosmopolitan Art Deco style of the 1930s when watches such as these were worn by stylish New Yorkers from Rockefeller Center to Wall Street. The 1937 Dress Chronograph recalls timepieces that combined sophisticated elegance with the modern-age trendsetting of the decade.
In an era when New York witnessed the construction of its biggest Deco icon, the Empire State Building, travelers of the 1930s would journey on the most famous railroad line of the day: the 20th-Century Limited, powered by the iconic streamlined locomotives of the New York Central Railroad. – DH
Story
The 1937 Dress Chronograph echoes the best elements of Art Deco, mathematical symmetry, and urban lifestyle. Available with four dial designs and eight strap styles, the 1937 has a complex sector dial with a tachymeter scale that shows an immediate reading of speed. Square pushers activate the chronograph while the 60-minute sub-dial, together with the large central sweep second hand, measures the essential information for timing: elapsed time in minutes and seconds.
The 1937 is 38mm in diameter – the traditional size of a gentleman’s chronograph. We offer four variations of the 1937: with two sub-dials positioned vertically or horizontally and you can choose your 1937 with either a date function or no date.
The screw-in case back is engraved with the profile of the legendary New York Central Hudson locomotive, the ultimate in Art Deco engineering, along with your individual serial number from the 1,937 pieces in this edition.
